Vesak Day Celebration – May 17th, 2025

Please join us in celebrating Vesak Day, an officially recognized United Nations (UN) holiday commemorating Gautama Buddha’s Birth, Enlightenment, and Passing Away.

Children’s Mini Retreat / Sil Observance – Saturday, May 17th, 2025 at 1.45pm.

01:45 PM – Children’s Mini Retreat /Sil Observance
– Observance of the Eight Precepts (All Children)
– Dhamma program (Group 1)
– Dhamma program (Group 2)

Registration is required and open until Thursday, May 15th

Registration Link: For multiple children, each child should be registered separately.
2025 Vesak Sila Program for Children

** Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to accommodate preparations and seating.
** We request all children wear proper attire for the Sila program. Comfortable clothing that covers the body is suggested. White is preferred.
**Children must bring a snack/water to consume after the Sila program
**Please bring/apply bug spray to prevent mosquito bites in the evening.


Evening Vesak Celebrations will be held from 4.30pm onwards at NEBV & MC.

– Mal perahara/Procession
– Making symbolic offerings to the Triple Gem (Buddha Pooja)
– Blessings
– Messages
– Devotional songs sung by children and adults in the community
– The lighting of Vesak decorations
– Dansala
– End of celebration and clean up


Vesak Poya Day Sila Program for Adults – May 10th, 2025

Vesak is the most sacred day on the Buddhist calendar and typically we spend the day to reflect upon the sublime teachings of The Buddha and also to memorialize and celebrate the Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and entering into Parinibbana. We cordially invite you to the Vesak 2025 observance [full day retreat] on Saturday, May 10th, at NEBV & MC. The program will be held from from 7:00am to 5:00pm. Prior registration is important to us for providing lunch to the participants.

Vesak Celebration at the Massachusetts State House – May 13th 2025

The New England Buddhist Vihara and Meditation Center is honored to collaborate with State Representative Carmine Gentile for a Vesak celebration at the State House and would like to invite you to participate.

Time: 1:30 pm
Venue: House Members Lounge in the Massachusetts State House

Spring Cleanup – Shramadana – May 2025

With the arrival of spring, we are seeking assistance from volunteers to spruce up the temple and its surroundings. Please select the day and time you wish to drop by and participate. You can choose multiple days if you are able to do so.

Scheduled dates:
April 26th
May 3th
May 4th

We will be cleaning up, mulching, planting flowers and decorating for Vesak. Please bring gardening tools and/or gardening gloves if you have them. We will need:
1) Plants (annuals/perennials)
2) Garden soil and fertilizer
3) Landscape fabric
4) Mulch (color Red & Black)

If you are unable to participate, but want to donate plants, please bring them to the temple at your convenience and volunteers will plant them for you.
