Annual Cricket Tournament – May 31st, 2025
We are excited to announce our 17th Annual Cricket Tournament and Family Outing, which will be held on Saturday, May 31st at the Westborough Chauncey cricket patch.
The program is sponsored by the New England Buddhist Vihara and Meditation Center.
In addition to the cricket tournament, there will also be a volleyball tournament. You can participate by forming your own teams.
We encourage both men and women to take part in these events.

There will be breakfast, lunch (rice packets wrapped in banana leaves for pre-orders), and snacks available for purchase at the event.
Please save the date and join us early at the ground for a fun-filled day with your family.
The park offers various outdoor activities, such as:

Vesak Day Celebration – May 17th, 2025
Please join us in celebrating Vesak Day, an officially recognized United Nations (UN) holiday commemorating Gautama Buddha’s Birth, Enlightenment, and Passing Away.
Children’s Mini Retreat / Sil Observance – Saturday, May 17th, 2025 at 1.45pm.

Registration Link: For multiple children, each child should be registered separately.
** Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to accommodate preparations and seating.
** We request all children wear proper attire for the Sila program. Comfortable clothing that covers the body is suggested. White is preferred.
**Children must bring a snack/water to consume after the Sila program
**Please bring/apply bug spray to prevent mosquito bites in the evening.

Evening Vesak Celebrations will be held from 4.30pm onwards at NEBV & MC.

Vesak Poya Day Sila Program for Adults – May 10th, 2025
Vesak is the most sacred day on the Buddhist calendar and typically we spend the day to reflect upon the sublime teachings of The Buddha and also to memorialize and celebrate the Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and entering into Parinibbana. We cordially invite you to the Vesak 2025 observance [full day retreat] on Saturday, May 10th, at NEBV & MC. The program will be held from from 7:00am to 5:00pm. Prior registration is important to us for providing lunch to the participants.

Vesak Celebration at the Massachusetts State House – May 13th 2025
The New England Buddhist Vihara and Meditation Center is honored to collaborate with State Representative Carmine Gentile for a Vesak celebration at the State House and would like to invite you to participate.

Spring Cleanup – Shramadana – May 2025
With the arrival of spring, we are seeking assistance from volunteers to spruce up the temple and its surroundings. Please select the day and time you wish to drop by and participate. You can choose multiple days if you are able to do so.

May 4th
We will be cleaning up, mulching, planting flowers and decorating for Vesak. Please bring gardening tools and/or gardening gloves if you have them. We will need:
1) Plants (annuals/perennials)
2) Garden soil and fertilizer
3) Landscape fabric
4) Mulch (color Red & Black)
If you are unable to participate, but want to donate plants, please bring them to the temple at your convenience and volunteers will plant them for you.
Sri Lankan New Year Celebrations – April 27th 2025
Update 4/14/25:
The Sri Lankan New Year Celebration has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 27th. We look forward to celebrating together on this new date.
Join us in celebrating the Sri Lankan New Year on Sunday, April 13th, from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm.
The event, which is organized by the New England Buddhist Vihara, will be held at Nara Park’s Picnic Pavilion (25 Ledge Rock Way, Acton, MA 01720).
The celebrations will commence with religious observances, followed by cultural customs such as “Kiri Ithiraveema” (boiling milk), “Hisa Thel Gema” (anointing oil), “Avurudu Kreeda” (New Year games), ‘Jana gee’ and a potluck feast of traditional New Year food for everyone to share.

One Day Meditation Retreat – March 29th, 2025
There will be a one day meditation retreat on Saturday, March 29th, 2025 conducted by Bhante Pannasiri.
If you would like to participate in this program, please register using the form below. Please note that this retreat will be conducted in the English medium.
The retreat is open to practitioners of all levels. Registration is on a first-come first-served basis.
Lunch and refreshments will be served. Suggested donations are $30 or more. All donations go towards temple maintenance.
